Former four division world champion Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez (46-2, 38 KOs) is gearing up for a ring return in 2018.
Gonzalez suffered back to back defeats to Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, who holds the WBC super flyweight title.
In September, Sor Rungvisai brutally knocked out Gonzalez in four rounds at the StubHub Center in Los Angeles, California.
Gonzalez is being lined up for a potential ring return on a date in April.
He feels very confident of getting back in the mix and winning a world title once again.
"People have motivated me, mainly the people who love me. I am motivated to be champion again. I'll be ready [if my return comes in April], I know what I'm going to do. In the end I want to make that fight [in April]," Gonzalez tells German Garcia.
Gonzalez reflected on his defeats to Sor Rungivisai and now feels refreshed to continue forward in his career.
He would love to work with veteran trainer Abel Sanchez, who is best known for his work with middleweight king Gennady Golovkin.
"In the second knockdown [of the rematch] I knew what had happened, but I could not feel my legs. I knew mentally what was going on, but my legs... I could not feel them," Gonzalez said.
"The first fight was different, I did not know what to expect and in the second fight I did not want the same thing to happen with the cuts [from head clashes], I wanted to surprise him and in the end I could not. I wanted to press after the fifth and sixth rounds, but in the end one shot landed and everybody knows the final result.
"The knockout hurts a lot, but I'm not afraid to continue. In the end I would love [to work with] Abel Sanchez and learn good things and try new workouts. Golovkin trains like a savage and I want that, that a coach can teach me a new training method that I get to like. To be a coach is not to teach you skill but to know what you are failing at. In my 47 fights I have also made mistakes. I want a coach to tell me my mistakes."
