Former world champion Amir Khan (31-4, 19 KOs) has promised to make a big announcement within the next ten days - and he claims the announcement will shock a lot of people.

The 31-year-old boxer has not fought since May 2016, when he moved up to a catch-weight of 155-pounds and was knocked out cold in the sixth round by then WBC middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Not long after that contest, Khan underwent surgery to correct a lingering hand injury.

After years of fighting in the United States, Khan claims his next few fights will take place on UK soil - with the first bout take place in the UK.

Khan would not reveal any details regarding the shocking announcement - if it had to do with a new promotional deal or an unexpected opponent.

"I haven't fought in the UK for seven years. It is time to come back home now so I am looking at fighting in March," Khan told Talk Sport.

"Then I plan to fight again in the UK around September time and then at the end of the year I want a big fight, wherever that is.

"There are some big, big announcements I will make within the next ten days before I go back to training camp in America. This is news everyone is going to be shocked hearing."

In 2017, Khan took part in the reality show "I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!"

Khan felt the reality show involvement did wonders for his personal life - as he was dealing with martial issues that have since been resolved.

"I felt going in the jungle would get me away from a lot of stuff that has happened in my life in the last few years," Khan said.

"It was like a detox, being with new friends, being away from your home. If I was sat at home not doing anything, I would have got depressed, I would have got so bored, I wouldn't have known what to do with myself.

"Now knowing I don't have to go into a boxing ring or go into training camps having injections in my hand, I am going to be more confident. The straight right is my best shot so I can't wait to use it properly. It feels better than ever.

"All my career I have had this pain and now to have none is amazing."
