It was announced earlier today, that four division world champion Adrien Broner (33-3, 24 KOs) would return to the ring on April 21, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Broner will face undefeated former world champion Omar Figueroa (27-0-1, 19 KOs) in a WBC super lightweight final eliminator.
The co-main event will feature former world champion Gervonta Davis (19-0, 18 KOs) as the 23-year-old undefeated boxer looks to regain his title.
Figueroa is coming off a huge victory, when he demolished and retired former multi-division champion Robert Guerrero.
Broner will attempt to bounce back after suffering a twelve round decision loss to Mikey Garcia last July, also at Barclays.
Broner is promising to change his career around in 2018. He wants to hand Figueroa his first career defeat, and then wants to get a rematch with Garcia - and then he wants a rematch with Shawn Porter, who won a twelve round decision over Broner a few years ago.
"I'm trying to outshine everybody. I have to go crazy. I have to rematch Mikey. I have to fight Shawn Porter. This fight is the start of the turn-up. I'm ready. Let's get it on. He's undefeated, I'm trying to give him his first loss," Broner said.
Garcia coming back to action on March 10, in his second fight at junior welterweight, when he challenges IBF world champion Sergey Lipinets. If Gracia wins, he will make a decision on whether or not he plans to remain at 140-pounds or move back to the lightweight limit of 135, where he still holds the WBC title and owes a mandatory to Jorge Linares.
Porter is the WBC's mandatory challenger to current champion Keith Thurman. Porter is planning to sit back to enforce his mandatory shot. Thurman is back in action on May 19 at Barclays Center, but his opponent has yet to be determined.
