Two of the best heavyweight boxers in the world will square off as Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker meet in a massive title unification bout in Cardiff, Wales on March 31. Both Joshua and Parker enter this fight undefeated in their careers with a combined 44-0 record with 38 knockouts.
Joshua, who’s the IBF, WBA Super and IBO heavyweight champion, opened as a -1200 favorite while Parker, the WBO heavyweight champion, came back at +700.
Joshua is perhaps more naturally gifted than any heavyweight we have seen in some time. AJ has devastating power with all 20 of his career wins coming by knockout – with 16 opponents never seeing the fourth round. The former Olympic gold medalist has good fundamentals but his game is really built around his power.
Though not as well known as Joshua, Parker is part of the new wave of heavyweight boxers. The undefeated Kiwi is still just 25 years old and though he has had some questionable moments against stiffer competition, Parker has always come out on top. He should look to work his very good jab often, as pushing the pace and avoiding getting stuck on the ropes are key to beating Joshua.
