Former two-division world champion Andre Ward (32-0, 16 KOs), 33-years-old, advised BoxingScene.com that at the moment he doesn't have any intention of returning to the ring.
Last year, Ward announced his retirement from the sport a few months after scoring a stoppage win in his rematch with Sergey Kovalev.
Ward vacated his WBO, WBA, IBF light heavyweight titles and walked away from the sport, at least as an active fighter.
These days, Ward has been focusing on other boxing related ventures - like his expert commentary for HBO Sports and his duties as a manger for up and coming fighters like Shakur Stevenson.
A few weeks ago, rumors of a comeback ran wild after Ward revealed that he was bulking up and his weight had suggested that the undefeated boxer had added some muscle mass. Ward has often discussed the idea of taking a fight in the heavyweight division, and prior to his retirement his team was in talks for a potential cruiserweight fight with Tony Bellew.
At the moment, Ward is not considered a return to the ring.
"I never said anything about the heavyweight division, I jut put my weight out there. People ask for transparency from me, so when I give them a little glimpse into my life sometimes and people can run with things. I'm a sincere person, and the people who know me - know that I'm not going to announce my retirement, say the things that I said, if I didn't mean it," Ward told BoxingScene.com.
"But at the end of the day, this has been my baby for 23 years, my body is used to getting back to work right now. It hasn't even been a year, its been like 5 months [since I retired]. I'm gonna stay ready and I'm gonna keep myself at a certain level of readiness, but I have no plans on coming back. I do have some extra weight on me, but it's good weight and it's not fat. I'm working, I'm challenging myself and building up - but I have no immediate plans."
