WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders believes Chris Eubank Jr. will never become a world level force in the future.
Saunders, who handed Eubank his first career defeat several years ago, was highly critical of the boxer after he suffered the second defeat of his career last Saturday in Manchester, at the hands of WBA world champion George Groves.
Saunders does not feel Eubank Jr. has vastly improved since their showdown back in 2014.
Saunders was not surprised that Groves had few issues in winning a twelve round unanimous decision over Eubank Jr. in their semi-final bout in the ongoing World Boxing Super Series tournament - and now Groves moves on to the final bout which is tentatively set for the month of June.
Eubank Jr. - like he was in the build to his fight with Saunders - was very vocal about how easily he would dominate and stop Groves. He even confidently predicted that Groves would be knocked out into retirement.
“You can't be disrespectful and mischievous at this level," said Saunders, speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.
"If you think you can be that ignorant and get in there for this calibre of opponent without a trainer and without proper guidance, this is going to happen ten out of ten [times].
"He is never, ever going to be a world beater. I have always said this. I beat him with six weeks training with a little bit of movement. All I did was use my legs, get on my feet and out-point him.
"I spoke to George Groves the night before. I told him to get on his feet and use his jab and he said 'I've got it, that is what we have been doing'.
"I knew if he was even half the man that boxed [Carl] Froch, he would win. I made a few quid as well!"
