马奎兹的教练博斯坦说；“马奎兹准备在九月，但我希望他在六月份，因为我忙（帮小查维兹备战5月的比赛），不可能所有时间都和他在一起，库托是一个伟大的波多黎各拳手”。

阿鲁姆今天告诉记者说；“马奎兹上周过来看我们了，如果我没有弄错的话，我们谈了几件事情，包括战库托，但只是些初步的，没有具体的计划”。

虽然阿鲁姆之前和库托曾经闹过矛盾，但他表示愿意与库托继续合作。2000年奥运会后库托加入顶级推广，2012年成为自由拳手，2013年又回到顶级，但随后又闹崩，加入Roc Nation推广公司。


Marquez, 43 years old, has been out of the ring since May of 2014 when he won a twelve round decision over former world champion Mike Alvarado. The Mexican veteran spoke to his head trainer Ignacio "Nacho" Beristain and told him that he needs a warmup fight in the coming months, and then Cotto.
"The comment that Juan Manuel made to me is that they are going to do a preparation fight and then they are going to fight by September," Nacho told Jose Sanchez. "[Cotto] is one of the great Puerto Rican boxers. One of the best that Puerto Rico has given us."
"I advised Juan Manuel that the (preparatory) fight would have to be in June because I have a lot of commitments and I can not be with him all the time.'
A June return is necessary, because Nacho will be busy preparing Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. for his scheduled fight with Canelo on May 6th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. In addition, Nacho is currently working with Rey Vargas, who will face Britain's Gavin McDonnell on February 25 in Yorkshire, England for the vacant 122-pound World Boxing Council (WBC) title.
The negotiations between Cotto and Marquez were also confirmed by Bob Arum, CEO of Top Rank.
"Juan Manuel came to see us last week if I'm not mistaken and we talked about several things, including that fight [with Cotto]. But it was only preliminary because there is nothing concrete on our part," said Arum to Sanchez.
Top Rank signed Cotto after the 2000 Olympics. Cotto became a free agent in 2012, but went back to Top Rank on a fight by fight basis in 2013. They had a nasty split after Cotto walked away from them to join Roc Nation Sports.
Despite the past bad blood, Arum said he was willing to collaborate with Cotto and Roc Nation.
"Well, we work with everyone. I would have to see. But I do not speculate about it because these are very peculiar people," added Arum.
The biggest hurdle, which killed the fight discussions last year, is a catch-weight that works for both boxers.

这场比赛能否谈拢的关键还是体重，上次老马要求在次中量级（147磅），库托要求在150磅的体重上限，使得比赛告吹。大笨子估计比赛很可能是在149磅或151磅的体重上限，原因一、只要给老马的钱够了，体重好商量，二、比赛体重是库托的底线，库托比赛体重是有轨迹可寻的，那就是递减2磅，等差排列。打老马丁是159磅，揍吉勒是157磅，战阿瓦是155磅，原定与科克兰德的比赛协议在153磅，和马奎兹当然得在151磅了，至少也得149磅。
