Jeff Horn had no qualms over the scoring of his controversial points-verdict win over Manny Pacquiao as he targets the likes of Keith Thurman and Errol Spence Jr in future bouts. The Australian was unanimously awarded the victory in Brisbane on Sunday, despite the general consensus that Pacquiao had enjoyed the better of the WBO welterweight title fight. The three judges scored the contest 117-111, 115-113 and 115-113 in Horn's favour, although statistics showed Pacquiao to be more than twice as successful when it came to punches landed, while Horn was almost stopped in the ninth. Nevertheless, Pacquiao was gracious in defeat and Horn felt the result was a fair reflection of the action at Suncorp Stadium. "No not really, I wasn't really surprised," Horn said in his media conference. "I was going back to the corner and the guys were letting me know I was winning the majority of rounds but obviously he's a champion. "I was happy that I've won the fight, especially unanimously. "I'll take massive confidence from this fight, I believed in myself before but now that I've done something like this...I've climbed the Pacquiao mountain and now I've got to look at the other guys up there - Keith Thurman and Errol Spence, they're two targets on the list as well." "I'm not going to let anyone derail Jeff or I and say anything at all that will upset me," added Horn's trainer Glenn Rushton. "I thought they were disrespectful when Justin Fortune [Pacquiao's strength and conditioning coach] said the only way Manny could lose was if he tripped on his way to the ring. I have no problems with Manny, he's a legend. "I was confident we'd done enough to win the fight and thankfully the judges saw it the same way. It's a fair decision, I'm pretty comfortable with how it went." |
