According to UFC superstar Conor McGregor, the Nevada State Athletic Commission could change the entire landscape of his upcoming fight with Floyd Mayweather (49-0, 26 KOs).
Next week, the NSAC will make a ruling on the two athletes submitting separate requests to use 8-ounce gloves for their scheduled showdown.
Mayweather-McGregor takes place at the junior middleweight limit of 154-pounds. Pursuant to the rules of the NSAC, any contest taking place above the welterweight limit must have 10-ounce gloves in use.
“If we’re 8-ounces, I’m struggling to give him two rounds, and that’s the God’s honest truth,” McGregor said. “The only reason I maybe give him two rounds is because in this game the referee stops me from pounding his head into the canvas, and he has 10 seconds to recover. That’s the only reason why he might get to the second round.”
