Zab Judah Handed 3 Month Jail Sentence Over Back Child Support
According to the New York Daily News, former two division world champion Zab Judah was hit with a three month jail sentence by Queens County Family Court judge, because the 39-year-old fighter owed over $120,000 in back child support payments.
Judah was unable to come up with the required funds.
“He was sentenced to three months to jail and taken away in hand cuffs because he couldn’t pay $12,000,” the ** was told by a source familiar with the situation.

Judah argued in court that a jail sentence would leave him unable to earn money, so the judge asked him to come with 10% - and the boxer was unable to - so he was jailed.
Attorney Steven Gildin, who was in the courtroom for an unrelated case, spoke to the ** about what happened.
“After the Judge ruled, he looked like he was knocked out,” according to Gildin. “He stood, was handcuffed and seemed dazed as he was taken away to jail.”
Judah (43-9-2, 30 KOs) posted on Instagram before being sentenced “Even through the storm Smile I Fear Nothing or no one But GOD #TeamJudah.”
Judah is no stranger to child support issues. In June 2016, the Nevada Athletic Commission lifted an 18-month suspension against the fighter that was levied after he was charged with falsifying documents to show he had no past liens against him.
The suspension was handed down when the NSAC learned that Judah owed money for child support. And in 2002, he was arrested in Manhattan Family Court where he was attending a support hearing for one of his infant daughters, when it turned out he was wanted by authorities for falling behind on support for a different infant daughter.
Judah was scheduled to fight on October 3 in Baku against undefeated prospect Ramal Amanov, but that contest is now in the dumpster. The veteran had fought back in January, when he picked up a win in his first bout since December 2013. |
