WBA super welterweight champion Erislandy Lara (24-2-2) and unbeaten 2012 US Olympian Terrell Gausha will face each other in a Showtime televised main event on October 14th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
The fight will snap 9 months of inactivity for Lara but he is not worried about ring rust. He said that everything has gone smooth in his preparations for Gausha.
"My training camp has been very good. I feel good and everything has been great. I am training like I am going to be fighting Floyd Mayweather," said Lara.
Gausha is talented and an unbeaten fighter but definitely isn't on the level of the former pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather. Lara said that he isn't worried about Gausha's abilities and believes that if he trains the right way that he is unbeatable.
"I don't think about what he is or what he isn't. I just believe that if I am conditioned well and I am prepared well mentally and physically like I already am for this fight that I will get the win," Lara explained.
As for what he wants next, Lara said that he wants a big fight. He would love nothing more than a rematch against Canelo Alvarez, has called out Gennady Golovkin and also said that he is willing to face unbeaten super welterweight champion Demetrius Andrade.
"Everything and anything is possible. I have been calling these guys out for a while and I am ready for them. I am ready to fight and they know I want to fight them. I am ready and available to fight them when they are ready," Lara told BoxingScene.com.
Lara had Golovkin beating Canelo in their September fight that resulted in a split draw. All signs point to the two facing each other in a rematch in May and as far as who he gives the edge to in the rematch, Lara took a shot at the judging of their first bout.
"I had Golovkin winning the first fight which a lot of people saw that way, but this (type of result) seems to be the case when Canelo fights. We will see what the judges decide in a rematch," Lara stated.
