It seems like Amir Khan (31-4, 19 KOs) hasn't given up hope on facing Floyd Mayweather (50-0, 27 KOs) just yet.
The 30-year-old former WBA and IBF Super Lightweight champion hopes to return to the ring before the end of the year having been out of action since his heavy defeat to Canelo Alvarez, at middleweight, last May.
After been mentioned in a tweet regarding the possibility of Mayweather un-retiring to face Khan, the Brit replied saying: "Who knows. Floyd is a great fighter I just have something he’s not faced, speed. Floyd knows I’m not the one to back down."
The 2004 Olympic Silver Medallist has courted a fight with the former pound-for-pound king for some time, and Khan believes he has the tools to still cause Mayweather problems.
"In any fight I’ve never been out boxed. Mayweather-Khan fight would be a game of chess. Speed movement and accuracy will cause him problems," said Khan.
Khan has been out of action due to a hand injury which he had to have surgery on, and the Bolton welterweight is ready to make his comeback.
"I know it’s been a year I’ve not fought due to hand surgery. I’m ready to make comeback at 30 years of age. Say what you like Canelo was getting out boxed. I was winning on cards. He had power and caught me with a huge right. That's boxing. Mayweather doesn’t have the power."
