Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez is very motivated as he prepares for his rematch showdown with IBO, WBA, WBC middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin - which takes places at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The first bout took place last year at the same venue, and saw the contest end in a controversial twelve round draw.
A rematch scheduled for May 5 was canceled after Alvarez failed a drug test for banned substance clenbuterol.
The 27-year-old has been temporarily suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission but will be allowed to return to the ring from Aug. 17 forward.
The IBF stripped Golovkin (38-0-1, 34 KOs) of his middleweight title after he failed to set up a mandatory defense against Ukrainian Sergiy Derevyanchenko.
According to Golden Boy Promotions President Eric Gomez, who promotes Canelo, the Mexican fighter will apply for his license with the Nevada Athletic Commission on August 18.
At the final hour, both sides were able to reach an agreement on Wednesday.
The last public information, was a monetary split of 57.5% for Canelo and 42.5% for Golovkin, but neither Gomez nor Tom Loeffler, Gennady's representative, wanted to reveal the final percentage that made them reach an agreement.
"The truth is I don't like to talk about percentages, the important thing is that the fight goes forward, the two sides gave way and the fight goes forward," said Gomez to ESPN Deportes. "What we have is that we go back to the T-Mobile Arena and we will work on the details, press conference and all of that. For now, Canelo is training and does not want to see Golovkin until they are in the ring."
"The public won, that's what matters, the details are going to come out, the good thing was the world of boxing and the fans won, which is something that [Golden Boy CEO] Oscar [De La Hoya] and Canelo always wanted."
