Tom Loeffler, promoter for WBC, WBA, IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (38-0-1, 34 KOs), is really hoping to witness a lot more action in the upcoming rematch with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (49-1-2, 34 KOs).
When the boxers collided back in September 2017, Canelo was on his toes and used his boxing ability - while Golovkin gave chase. The bout ended in a controversial twelve round split draw.
Now they get to do it a second time on September 15th, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
And Loeffler cautions that he's receiving messages from countless Mexican fans, who want Golovkin to end Canelo inside the distance - and GGG will aim to secure that type of closure from the very first round.
"Not only as a promoter but as a boxing fight, this is the fight everyone is looking forward to. This is the fight the fans are looking forward to, that the media has been asking about," Loeffler said.
"And GGG, I get a lot of comments, a lot of messages on social media from fans in Mexico saying, please knock out Canelo, don't let it in the judges' hands this time and GGG is going to come out that way."
The two boxers were set to collide on May 5th - but the fight was pushed back after Canelo tested positive for the banned substance clenbuterol.
Canelo is very firm in explaining that his positive tests were directly connected to his consumption of contaminated meat while training in Mexico.
"I know Oscar [De La Hoya] is down there in Mexico with Canelo. Make sure, Canelo, less Mexican meat, more Mexican style this time, September 15. Make sure everything goes the right way," Loeffler said.
"There's two warriors getting in the ring. The gloves are off this time around. Both guys, you know, feel disrespected by what happened last May 5, so I think the fans are going to win coming up September 15 when these guys get in the ring with each other."
