British superstar Amir Khan is well aware of his role as the massive underdog against WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford.
Khan will challenge Crawford on April 20th at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Khan is not intimidated, as he does not view Crawford as being the pound-for-pound king that many label him as. Some experts see him as second only to Vasyl Lomachenko as the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world.
Khan would have likely been the underdog under any circumstances - but he is even more so after struggling some in his last fight with Samuel Vargas. Khan won a decisive victory, but he was dropped in the contest and also saw himself get staggered pretty badly during the tenth round.
Khan see some great qualities in Crawford, but he doesn't see him as as being the feared man in the division - based on his level of opposition and the quality of his unbeaten streak of wins.
The Bolton boxer hopes to get the same type of recognition in victory.
"I do see a little of the great Andre Ward in his calm and patience and I've seen him beat several tough guys," Khan told Daily Mail.
"But when you look at our resumes he hasn't fought the elite level of fighters who I've been in with and mostly beaten. Nor has he fought anyone like me. The secret to defeating him and his style will be my speed and movement and picking the moment for the right punches at the right time.
"I bring skills to the table he's never faced. I look at his opponents and I feel that he's been put on that pound-for-pound pedestal without really having proved himself. But I like that people have given him that status because when I beat him we will see if they class me as one of the best pound-for-pound."
