Frank Warren fumbles on whether Fury has the coronvirus
Frank Warren, co-promoter of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury on the status of the postponed fight between Fury and former champion Deontay Wilder: "It's looking sometime in October, which is a great shame that it's been postponed, but it is what it is... Unfortunately he got, they got in the camp tested positive for COVID...There is nothing we can do about it, these are the times we live in. Very frustrating. Really frustrating for Tyson. By the time he gets in the ring, he'll have been out for nearly twenty months. That's a long, long time."
Saturday, July 9th: The WBC confirmed what boxing fans already knew: the WBC heavyweight title fight between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder, scheduled for July 24th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas has been officially postponed following a coronavirus outbreak in Fury’s training camp. It was not confirmed whether Fury himself has tested positive. The WBC says a new fight date will be announced, which could be September or October, at the same venue.
