After that defeat, Brook returned to the welterweight division to make a mandatory defense against undefeated Olympian Errol Spence. Once again Brook started strong, but he faded down the stretch after suffering another fractured orbital bone and was stopped in the eleventh round. Both of the injuries suffered required surgery and months of rehab. Brook is now planning to invade the junior middleweight limit of 154-pounds - and Hearn says the comeback fight is being targeted for a December date in Brook's hometown of Sheffield. "Brook has just had an operation and it went very well, it was much **r than the previous one he had on the other eye. He has had two bad injuries and to fracture both eye sockets in two consecutive fights is very unusual and very unlucky," Hearn told Sky Sports. Cotto makes his return on August 26th, when he faces Yoshihiro Kamegai for the vacant WBO junior middleweight belt. "Brook definitely still has a future in the game and is very hungry following the Spence loss," said Hearn. "I think we will probably see his return in Sheffield in December and then we will target a mega fight in 2018, whether that is Miguel Cotto or alike." |
