Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (49-1-1, 34 KOs) is not only confident of being victorious over Gennady Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs), he also expects to end the fight with a knockout.
Canelo will challenge Golovkin, who holds the IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC middleweight world titles, on September 16th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. HBO Pay-Per-View will carry the anticipated event.
For Canelo, the fight represents his most toughest challenge since the 2013 showdown with Floyd Mayweather Jr. - which resulted in Canelo suffering his first career defeat by way of a one-sided twelve round decision.

A year ago, Canelo was viewed as a big underdog and many expected Golovkin to knock him out. That is no longer the case, after Golovkin's two most recent fights.
Last September, Golovkin had trouble before securing a fifth round stoppage over Kell Brook, who was moving up in weight by two full weight divisions. And in March, Golovkin had more trouble in going the full twelve round distance for the first time in his career against Daniel Jacobs. The outcome also put an end to Golovkin's streak of 23 consecutive knockouts.
"I'm gonna win, for sure. Without a doubt it is going to end by knockout," Canelo said.
"He's a very strong fighter, an aggressive fighter, he comes and looks for the knockout. That makes him different than other fighters. It is one of the biggest fights of my career, but I have been in big fights before. I've been in big events before, but without a doubt this is one of the biggest at this point in my career.
"I have fought the best in my history, in my fights, in my past I have fought the best with the most difficult styles. We're going to do all the necessary preparations because we know this is a new challenge and a tough fight, but (we will) come out victorious." |
