A week after his big win over Japanese slugger Takashi Miura, Mexico's Miguel Berchelt (32-1, 28 KOs) - who holds the World Boxing Council super featherweight championship - is still savoring the honeys of victory, and is confident that he will make the best choice for his future
Berchelt is very interested in the idea of ??returning to fight again in the United States, as part of another HBO televised card - but he also likes the idea of fighting in Mexico in order to introduce himself as a world champion to his countrymen.
"I will be back in Mexico on Monday. We will talk to the team and we will determine the possibilities of a title defense in the month of November or we will wait until next year. The good thing is that there are a lot of options. The opportunity to fight for the third time this year with the backing of HBO is open, but there is also a chance to have a fight in Mexico," Berchelt revealed to ESPN Deportes.
There are no shortage of names at super featherweight, like champions Gervonta Davis, Vasyl Lomachenko, Jezreel Corrales, but there is also Orlando Salido, Jhonny González, Micky Román, Cristian Mijares, Jason Sosa, Francisco Vargas, and several others.
"There are many names that I can show that I'm the best 130 pounder in the world," Berchelt said.
"For now we have to be happy that we've retained the championship, that we have many opportunities and we will see if we are going to fight again [this year]. We were in two tough fights so far this year, first with 'Bandido' Vargas and then with Takashi Miura, We are not going to rush, we have to enjoy the moment and be focused on what we want - to be the best in the world," said Berchelt.
