ANTHONY Joshua is one of the biggest names in world boxing, without a doubt.
The British heavyweight emerged victorious in one of the fights of the decade against Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley Stadium in April.
In doing so, he took home the WBA, IBO belts to go with his IBF title, announcing his arrival among the sport’s elite despite having just 19 professional fights.
And with 19 knockouts giving him a 100% KO ratio, comparisons between AJ and fellow power-punching heavyweight Mike Tyson have been bandied around by fans.
But during a fans’ Q&A yesterday, the 27-year-old had an emphatic answer for those wondering who might emerge victorious in a hypothetical fight between the two stars at their peak.
“Mike Tyson would have battered me!" Joshua said, laughing.
"There was no way I could have taken on that guy. I would have taken that pay cheque.
"You know what I did against Klitschko in that 6th round when I took that dive? I’m joking.
"I would have taken a dive against Tyson. He was a beast.
"I give all credit and respect to Tyson. Even though Tyson is going on like 50 now, I still remember Tyson as the young, young 21-year-old.
"He was that good and made such an impact in the sport of boxing.”
News of the Watford man’s next fight has yet to be confirmed, although promoter Eddie Hearn claimed a November 11 at Las Vegas' 20,000-capacity T-Mobile Arena was highly likely.
