The question was perfectly appropriate, considering Mayweather reportedly planned to place a $5 million bet on himself to beat McGregor on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena. The incredibly confident McGregor gave an uncharacteristic answer, choosing instead to mock Mayweather’s well-documented gambling habits.
“Maybe. I don’t know,” McGregor said during their final press conference at MGM Grand. “I mean, I certainly know I’m gonna win. I certainly know that. I think he has a big-time gambling problem. From seeing him, he gambles on halftimes and things like that. He shows what his wins are, never shows what the losses are. Maybe that’s why he is in this position he is in and he had to take this fight. So look, I’m focused on the fight – not gambling.” |
