WBC lightweight champion Mikey Garcia (37-0, 33 KOs) is still looking for the biggest opportunity possible in the next few months.
In July, Garcia jumped up to the junior welterweight division and dominated four division champion Adrien Broner over twelve rounds at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Garcia has voiced a very strong list of targets - which even included WBO junior middleweight world champion Miguel Cotto - a bout that would see Garcia go up by another fourteen pounds from his last fight.
As Garcia mulls the likely scenario of remaining at 140-pounds, the biggest name in the division is moving up in weight.
Last month, Terence Crawford (32-0, 23 KOs) unified the IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC junior welterweight titles with a third round knockout of Julius Indongo. Crawford has already vacated the IBF's belt and plans to drop the remaining three as he moved up to the welterweight limit of 147-pounds.
Crawford is one the names that Garcia wants to fight. In order for that fight to take place, Crawford makes it clear that Garcia would have to move up to the welterweight division.
"I'm moving up to 147, so if he come up to 147 and they really want the fight - they know how to get in touch with us. We ain't never turned down a fight or ducked anyone. So if that's the fight that they want to call for or if that's the fight they want to take - we are always open for a phone call," Crawford told BoxingScene.com.
