HALL OF FAME ARTIST COMMISSIONED TO CREATE ART FOR MIKEY GARCIA vs SERGEI LIPINETS
Multi-award winning artist Richard T. Slone has been commissioned to create the official art for this weekend’s big fight when three-division World Champion Mikey Garcia attempts to add a fourth belt to his collection when he faces unbeaten 140-pound titleholder Sergey Lipinets in San Antonio, Texas. The promoters reached out to Slone to commission a pre-fight action painting to commemorate this historic event.

“Mikey Garcia has proven to be one the best pound for pound fighters in the world, his 37-0 record (with 30 Kos) proves that but Lipinets is also unbeaten and is very powerful, this is a great match up and in the painting I tried to emphasize their determination and struggle. This is a battle of wills and I wanted that to come across in the painting.” said Slone, the Official Artist of the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
With a win, Garcia would become only the third fighter in modern history to become Champion at 126, 130, 135 and 140-pounds, joining future Hall-of-Famers Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao.
The fight is Saturday, March 10 at 10:15/9:15c. Live on Showtime Championship Boxing in the USA and live on BoxNation in the United Kingdom. Three-division world champion Mikey Garcia and unbeaten junior welterweight world champion battle in a title fight from Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio. The SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING telecast also features two-division world champion Rances Barthelemy taking on Kiryl Relikh for the vacant WBA 140-pound world title.
