我不知道5月5号前是否准备就绪，但我们将拭目以待。如果他真的打算面对戈洛夫金，他就不能在那里打80或90%的比赛，他必须做好100%的准备才能参加比赛。但我必须诚实的说，这会是一场按次付费的大战，会有很好的收入，他也相信自己有能力击败戈洛夫金。”

Warren: Not Sure Saunders Would Be Ready For GGG By May 5

With Canelo Alvarez temporarily suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, his May 5th rematch with Gennady Golovkin is in jeopardy.

The Mexican superstar tested positive for banned drug clenbuterol twice and is now required to appear at a commission hearing on April 10th.

Golovkin's camp have discussed bringing in Billy Joe Saunders as a replacement in case Canelo is banned. Saunders, who recently injured his hand, insists that he won't be treated as a back-up plan.

Promoter Frank Warren discussed the issue on the latest BoxNation Podcast: "If that's the case then what does Golovkin want to do? Who's out there for him? He needs a meaningful fight. The most meaningful fight is him and Billy Joe Saunders to unify the belts. That's the fight Golovkin said he wanted.

"The problem we've got is that Bill sustained a hand injury. We postponed the fight [with Martin Murray] to the 23rd of June, only because that's the first date we could get at The O2. Whether he'll be ready earlier, we'll know this week.

"I don't know if being ready by the 5th of May is a proposition but we'll have a look and see. If he does fight Golovkin he's not going in there 80 or 90%, he's got to go in there 100% fit," Warren told Steve Lillis.

Golovkin has boxed in London once before, when he met Kell Brook in September 2016, and Warren believes a unification with Saunders in the capital would be a huge event.

"Yeah I think we'd get a good gate with it and obviously generate good TV income. It's a pay-per-view fight and I'm sure it would do big numbers over here.  I've got to be honest, wherever the money's right for Bill, he'll be there. He's confident he has the ability to beat Golovkin, so he just wants the fight."
