有消息称，戈洛夫金的比赛仍将在拉斯维加斯的米高梅大酒店举行，加里.奥沙利文（27-2，19KO）最有可能成为戈洛夫金的对手。如果阿瓦雷兹只获得六个月的停赛时间，与戈洛夫金就有可能会在九月复赛，这可能是双方都希望的最好的结果。

洛夫勒说；“肯定在拉斯维加斯，我们正在研究细节，但看起来它会保持按次付费。戈洛夫金希望在这场大赛再一次证明自己，但现在，我们只是专注于他5月5日的比赛。希望能够遵循委员会的规则，然后我们可以尽快与阿瓦雷兹复赛。”
Golovkin's Promoter Reacts To Canelo's Withdrawal, Talks May 5

Earlier today, it was announced by Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (49-1-1, 34 KOs) and Golden Boy Promotions that they are officially withdrawing from the May 5th rematch versus Gennady Gololvkin (37-0-1, 33 KOs), which was scheduled to take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

There was a dark cloud hanging over Alvarez after he tested positive for clenbuterol back in February.

The Mexican star was 'temporarily suspended' by the Nevada Athletic Commission and was scheduled to appear before them on April 18th where he is expected to face some disciplinary measure.

So with that pay-per-view event being cancelled, where does that leave Golovkin?

Tom Loeffler, the head of GGG Promotions told BoxingScene.com on Tuesday afternoon - "As I've been saying Gennady's been in full training. Right now he's ready to fight May 5th and he wants to defend all of his titles on May 5th. That's what we're looking at with the official announcement from 'Canelo'. We're looking at finding a suitable opponent."

Golovkin, who has not fought since facing Alvarez back in September, made it clear he didn't not want to stay idle any further.

"(Gennady) wanted to fight and it's my job to make sure it happens," said Loeffler.

"So that's what we're looking at right now. There's a lot of moving parts. 'Triple G' and 'Canelo' is the biggest fight in boxing but 'Triple G' defending all his titles is also still a very big event. So that's what we're doing and we're organizing that side right now."

Word is that this new event will take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, all Loeffler would confirm is that it would,''definitely be in Las Vegas."

Spike O'Sullivan is said to be the leader to land this assignment. Loeffler, who now has to put together the undercard says,"we're working on the details but it looks like it will stay a pay-per-view."

Should Alvarez only receive a six-month suspension, there's a chance the rematch with Golovkin could take place in September, which is probably what both sides are aiming for as the best case scenario.

"Look, when you have the biggest fight in boxing, 'Triple G' wants to prove what everyone thought the first time - that he won the fight. And he wants to do it again," said Loeffler.

"Right now, we're just focused on his fight May 5th and hopefully on what the commission rules then we can make the 'Canelo' rematch as soon as possible after that."
