Sampson Lewkowicz, the adviser to former two division world champion Sergio 'Maravilla' Martinez, made it very clear that there was a very small possibility that his boxer would fight again at the advanced age of 43 - but there was a zero possibility that he would ever have rematch with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Chavez Jr. has been going around social media and discussing the possibility of a rematch with Martinez in the near future.

Martinez, inactive since getting stopped by Miguel Cotto in 2014, won a twelve round unanimous decision over Chavez Jr. in their middleweight title fight in 2012.

In that fight, Martinez dominated Chavez Jr. for nearly eleven rounds. Chavez Jr. began a rally in the eleventh and then scored a big knockdown during the twelfth, and had Martinez in serious trouble. However, Chavez Jr. had almost no energy left and was unable to take advantage of the opportunity.

Sampson indicates that it's too risky to make any plans for a fight with Chavez Jr. - regardless of the opponent.

"Chavez Jr. has already canceled three or four bouts, or announced three or four bouts that were never made, and for that reason there are zero possibilities (for the Chávez-Martínez rematch to be made), it is more so where the morbid press is giving him a platform to push something that will not exist," said Sampson to ESPN Deportes.

Martinez has been training to film a film in Argentina and even renewed his boxing license in that country.

Sampson said he had spoke to Martinez on Wednesday and asked him to avoid trading words with Chavez Jr. on social media - "I told him that it's stupidity to keep talking to Julio César Chávez Jr. [on social media]. Chavez Jr. just came out of rehab for the addictions that he has, and by the look of his face and eyes it is really unfortunate that he suffers from these physical and mental conditions."

"He says (Chávez) that he is going to fight on September 7 (against Sergio Mora), but neither Al Haymon, his adviser, nor Zanfer, who has rights on him in Mexico, know anything about that, and Sergio Mora also said he was crazy."
