According to eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao, the negotiations are ongoing with the camp of Floyd Mayweather Jr. for a potential rematch in the coming months.
News of a rematch broke a few days ago, when Mayweather and Pacquiao posted a video of a face to face encounter at a concert event in Japan.
Mayweather stated several times, that he wants to unretire to fight Pacquiao in 2018.
Pacquiao is targeting a ring return for December of this year.
"Another nine-figure payday on the way," said Mayweather.
When they fought in May of 2015, the self-labeled "Fight of The Century" saw Mayweather win a twelve round unanimous decision.
Afterwards, Pacquiao claimed that he entered the fight with a right shoulder injury, which became worse during the contest.
Mayweather, 41, retired from boxing in August of 2017, after stopping UFC superstar Conor McGregor in the tenth round. He would later tease the idea of ** his debut in mixed martial arts, but that scenario never came off.
Pacquiao, 39, fought in July - when he secured a dominant seven round knockout of Lucas Matthysse to capture the WBA "regular" welterweight title in Malaysia. It was Pacquiao's first stoppage win since November of 2009.
In an interview with Dyan Castillejo of ABS-CBN News, Pacquiao stressed that they were in negotiations but nothing has been made final.
"We can not say when or exactly what date," said Pacquiao.
"He's announcing his comeback from retirement, he wants to fight and challenge me, he wants to get my belt. Right now, we're negotiating and hoping to finalize that. I'm always available, I'm always available for him."
"It's important to [to make this fight happen], as we have unfinished business. we've been waiting for a long time."
Pacquiao believes the rematch would play out in a different manner, with Mayweather tasting defeat for the first time as a pro.
"Right now, I know what I'm going to do," he said.
