Amir Khan is giving Adrien Broner a shot to unseat Manny Pacquiao in January.
Broner will challenge Pacquiao for the WBA "regular" welterweight title on January 19th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Broner, a four division world champion, is entering the ring as a big underdog and this is likely his last big fight opportunity.
Pacquiao, at nearly 40-years-old, is coming off one of his best performances in years. In July, he battered and stopped Lucas Matthysse for his first knockout win since 2009.
One of the fights that Khan is most interested in, is the winner of the Pacquiao-Broner showdown.
“Maybe this is the time where Broner shows how good he really is. You never know anything could happen. He could knock Manny Pacquiao out. This is his last chance in a big fight ever,” Khan said to Boxing News.
Khan was also a very interested observer in last Saturday's big heavyweight fight between WBC world champion Deontay Wilder and challenger Tyson Fury, which took place at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
The contest saw a dramatic ending with Fury getting drilling by a two-punch combination and appearing to be out cold in the twelfth round, only to beat the count of ten and finish the round strong.
The fight ended in a controversial twelve round split draw, with many observers believing Fury did enough to win by outboxing Wilder, and others tabbing the champion the true winner based on aggression and two knockdowns.
Now there is talk of an immediate rematch.
“I think Fury has still got a lot left in him,” Khan told Express Sport.
“The heavyweights mature later as well. I think he’s only going to gain power and gain strength and experience as time goes on. He’s got massive fights out there for him. You’ve got Ortiz there, you’ve got Joshua there, which will be a massive fight in the UK.”
