Former world champion Amir Khan is now salivating at the idea of facing his domestic rival, Kell Brook.
Last Saturday night in Sheffield, Brook looked lackluster and was even shaken up in what was booked as a stay-busy fight against Michael Zerafa. Brook was expected to get an early knockout win, but was forced to go the full distance to win a decision.
There had been talk of a fight with Khan in the first quarter of 2019.
But, Khan revealed that he was considering a guarantee of $5 million to face WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford on March 23rd at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
And now Khan is indicating that he's interested in facing Brook.
He believes that he would have stopped Brook within six rounds last weekend.
"Have you seen his last fight? He took too many shots. I just think having that long lay-off that he had can harm your body. Plus people say that outside the gym, outside of fighting, Brook doesn't live the professional life," Khan told Daily Mail.
"We've the same promoter in Eddie Hearn, hopefully that fight can happen, probably in March or April. I'll go back to America again. I'll start training camp over there. I think if that was me in the same ring as him on that night, I probably would have stopped him in like six rounds. But if the fight does happen in April or March, I've definitely got the win. 100 percent."
Hearn is very eager to get a deal done for that contest.
"Khan vs Brook is the fight that people want. Nobody is calling for the Crawford fight. When Khan and Brook get together it will be the biggest thing going because they cannot stand each other," Hearn said. "And it will be the most epic build-up for a completely 50-50 fight."
