German Caicedo, trainer for heavyweight contender Luis Ortiz (30-1, 26 KOs), says it's very hard to get opponents for his boxer.
Ortiz is currently training for a scheduled ring return on March 2nd at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, against Christian Hammer.
The hope for Ortiz is to secure a rematch with WBC world champion Deontay Wilder (40-0, 39 KOs) in 2019.
Ortiz came close to stopping Wilder in the seventh round of their clash in March 2018, but the champion recovered and knocked out Ortiz in the tenth.
"Last year was very profitable. Of course we want the rematch against Wilder, who has nothing to fear. We will face whatever comes our way," Caicedo told George Ebro.
"We are happy, because Christian Hammer is a good opponent, a man who has fought with good names, who went the distance with Povetkin. He comes forward. We want fights, go for titles, but it's very difficult for Luis to measure himself against the best.
"Those fighters who do want to fight with [Ortiz] and have a name, they want $ 60 million. They are not going to do it. Luis is still not going to sell a PPV on his own and it is understood. We will continue what we are doing, facing whatever is possible, to the best of what is left. Hammer has not been knocked out by anyone. We want to knock him out.''
At the moment, the plan is for Luis Ortiz to fight three times in 2019.
"Yes, we're not going to wait for anyone, we're not going to waste time for this or that to be decided. We will continue fighting. In the end, if the opportunity of a title does not come again, which is still his goal, Ortiz brought his family, his daughter is recovering from an illness, he created a new life and for him that is a tremendous success. He has lived and lives in boxing," the trainer said.
