Robert Garcia, head trainer and older brother of four division champion Mikey Garcia, feels confident that a major upset will occur next month.
Mikey will move up by two weight divisions to challenge IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence on March 16th at AT&T Stadium in Texas.
At the moment, Mikey holds the WBC world title at 135-pounds. He heads upstairs by twelve pounds to take the Fox Sports Pay-Per-View fight.
Spence is regarded as one of the best fighters in the world - but so is Garcia, who captured world titles at featherweight, super featherweight, lightweight and junior welterweight.
Mikey has never fought beyond 140-pounds. He defeated Adrien Broner and Sergey Lipinets on points in his two junior welterweight appearances.
When the two boxers faced off at a recent press event, the size difference was very noticeable.
While Spence has the clear advantage in size, Mikey senses that he can be faster and more accurate to negate that aspect of the bout to win.
Robert Garcia feels strongly that his younger brother also has the proper skills to overcome the odds.
"This is a big challenge for us to go up in weight to fight the best welterweight in the world. But it's not like its' never been done before and I know Mikey has the skills and power to pull it off. That's what we're coming to Dallas to do," Robert Garcia said.
"This is an opportunity for Mikey to continue building his legacy. He wants to be known as one of the greatest fighters of all time and a win over Errol Spence Jr. is a big step toward that.
"I don't think they've overlooking Mikey. "They know the talent he has. They're getting ready for a great fight like they've done before. I think they know that they're in for a real fight."
